For those of you who are kite enthusiasts who have been eagerly awaiting that annual gathering of the kite lovers, here is good news!
Nil Ahasey Wasanthaya- the kite festival and competition organized by the Kite Sri Lanka Association – the most prominent kite club in the country with a membership of over 2000 individuals, will come alive on September 12-13 at Galle Face Green with aninteresting event line up scheduled to take place.
The two day event will include a kite flying competition, kite making competition,creative kite competition and a kite making workshop amidst a carnival type of an atmosphere. Accordingly, the kite competitions will see several categories such as the best kite that displays national heritage, most creative kite and the best fighter kite etc.

Additionally, there will be a competition category on the theme of combating narcotics in support of the Campaign by the Presidential Task Force for Combating Narcotics. Registration for the kite festival will be between 8.30 am. to 11.30 a.m. on both days with competitions scheduled to commence in the afternoon.
Kite Sri Lanka Association has been organizing the annual kite festival every consecutive year since 2008 in addition to participating in international kite competitions and festivals. The event held under the children’s (on September 12) and open category (Sept 13) is participated by locals as well as foreigners.
