A 12-member dance group led by Umah Sritharan, Director of Sri Sathya Sai Kalalayam (Dancing Institution) from Kandy, participated in the National Tribal Dance Festival – 2019 held in Chhattisgarh state of India.
The Dance festival was held for 3 days in December. The dance group was sponsored by the Government of the State of Chhattisgarh and the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), a statement from the Indian High Commission said.
The group also met with Hon’ble Chief Minister of the State of Chhattisgarh Mr. BhupeshBaghel who awarded the group with certificates and memento for the event.
Over 1200 participants from 80 dance groups from all states of India, and from Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Belarus, Thailand and Uganda performed at the National Tribal Dance Festival – 2019.
