The Annual Flower Show in Nuwara Eliya was declared open at the Victoria Park today by chief guest Assistant High Commission for India in Kandy, Radha Venkadaraman.
The flower show is the main event of the April Season in Nuwara-Eliya. The event is organized by the Municipal Council of Nuwara-Eliya and aims to encourage flower growers in the area. The festival goes back to pre-Independence days when the British unofficially declared Nuwara Eliya their “home away from home”.
