Dilshan has completed his Master of Arts (Tabla) at Indira Kala Sangeeth Vishwa Vidyalaya, Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh, India. He graduated at the Faculty of North Indian Music at the University of Visual and Performing Arts and worked as visiting lecturer at the University of Jayawardhanapura and as tabla accompanist at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation.
