Trail walkers began another leg of the 670km journey from Galle Face to Moratuwa today. School children and well wishers gathered along the sides of the road to cheer on as walkers made their way.
Trail 2016 saw walkers beginning the route at Point Pedro and the gathering will head towards Dondra Head over the duration of 28 days with walkers covering around 23km a day. Participants can sign up to walk at their ability - joining for one day, 3 days, the whole walk or even join as a virtual walker. Registration details and monetary or in-kind donations towards Trail in 2016 can be found on the organization's newly refreshed website www.trailsl.com.
The walk which began on oct 6 is set to end on Nov 2. Funds collected will go towards a dedicated cancer treatment facility as an expansion of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle.
