Hindu devotees carry the statue of God Murugan better known as God Kataragama and venerated even by Buddhists, on their shoulders to be placed on the  chariot during the annual festival of the Sivasubramania Swami Hindu temple at Slave Island, Colombo. The chariot festival is held annually.
