During a search operation conducted by the Navy in Kudurippu,Veththalakerni and Nagar Kovil in Jaffna on Wednesday, April 26 , they arrested 10 people for illegally harvesting sea cucumber illegally.
The search operations further led to the seizure of 1040 sea cucumbers, 05 dinghies, and diving gear. The operations were carried out by deploying a naval craft
The arrested persons are residents of Mannar,Vankalai and Palleimunai areas, from 22 to 46 years of age. The suspects were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector of Thalayadi for further investigations.
