A suspect has been arrested on charges of allegedly defrauding over Rs.50 million from about 150 persons after promising to provide overseas jobs.
The Colombo Central Crime Investigation Division had commenced a probe into the matter following complaints received by the Slave Island Police. Officers from the Division were able to track down and arrest a suspect who was allegedly involved in the scam from Kirulapona yesterday (24). He has been handed over to the Slave Island Police.
The 37-year-old suspect is a resident of Dehiwala. Further investigations are ongoing.
