At least thirteen Indian fishermen were arrested for engaging in illegal fishing activities in Sri Lankan territorial waters north and west of Delft island in Jaffna yesterday, Navy said. Three of their fishing trawlers also seized.
The arrested fishermen were brought to the naval base in Kankesanthurai and subsequently handed over to the Assistant Fisheries Director of Jaffna for legal action. The seized trawlers and fishing gear were retained in Karainagar.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
