Twelve persons have been nabbed with narcotics at a gathering in a fishing trawler in Mirissa, police said.
The arrest had been carried out upon information received by the Matara Police Organised Crimes Prevention Unit.
Among the seized narcotics were Heroin, Ice, Hashish, Kerala cannabis, and five pills of an unidentified narcotic variety, police noted.
The suspects have been identified as those between the ages of 20 and 26. They are residents of Galle, Kurunegala, Homagama, Moratuwa, Ganemulla, Wattala, Kelanimulla, Rathmalana, Makola, Matara and Weligama.
They are due to be produced before the Matara Magistrate’s court today (Jul 14).
