A total of 1,652 persons have been arrested for not wearing face masks and failing to maintain social distance since October 30 this year, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said on Sunday, 41 persons were arrested for ignoring quarantine regulations.
DIG Rohana said police officers in mufti will be deployed to arrest those violating quarantine rules, to ensure those in isolated areas do not travel to other areas and to reduce crimes during festive season.
