Seventeen May Day rallies and meetings are to be held in the city of Colombo and the vicinity, police said. In addition, several rallies will be preceded by May Day processions in the city. The Sri Lanka Freedom Party and several other parties of the UPFA will hold two different rallies in Colombo. SLFP will march to Hyde Park from three different locations. The rally will be held at Hyde Park. Meanwhile, Mahajana Eksath Peramuna and several other parties and groups have organized a different rally at Lalith Athulathmudali Ground in Kirillapone. The march will start at Polhengoda and will travel through Baseline Road, Kirillapone Junction, Robert Gunawardena Mawatha, Balapokuna Road, High Level Road and arrive at the ground. UNP will start its procession from Maligawatte. It will travel through Maradana and Borella to Campbell Park for the rally. JVP will start its rally from S. de S. Jayasinghe Ground at Dehiwela and will hold the rally at the BRC Grounds. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party will hold its May rally at Shalika Grounds. Alternative Groups of Lanka Sama Samaja Party and the Communist Party of Sri Lanka will march from Kirimandala Junction at Nawala Road through Nawala Junction and Nugegoda Junction to Ananda Samarakone Outdoor Theater. Nava Sama Samaja Party will start its march from Price Park and will arrive at the same place for the rally after traveling through Dam Street, Central Road, Vivekananda Road, Jampata Street, St. Anthony’s Road, Jinthupitiya, and Kadireshan Street. The Frontline Socialist Party will hold its May Day rally at Bandaranayakapura Ground in Rajagiriya.
