Eighteen detonators were discovered at a venue in Minneriya in which President Maithripala Sirisena was expected to attend a ceremony yesterday (May 05).
The explosives were discovered during an inspection carried out by Bomb Disposal Unit of the Special Task Force in the area yesterday.
It is reported that the detonators were found in a store room at the official residence of an Assistant Engineer attached to the Irrigation Department. The residence was located in close proximity to the Minneriya Temple.
