Navy nabbed 2,360 kilos of dried turmeric at the Vankalai beach in Mannar yesterday (July 11). The turmeric haul in 60 sacks was seized by a Navy deployed foot patrol at the Vankalai beach.
The smugglers have left the complete turmeric haul at the Vankalai beach following their failure to avert the continuous operations of law enforcing agencies.
The Navy’s operation to foil the smuggling attempt was conducted adhering to COVID-19 protocols to contain the spread of the pandemic situation, Navy confirmed. The haul of dried turmeric is under naval custody until they are produced for onward legal action.
