Tomorrow’s budget would be the last annual budget to be put forward by the United National Front (UNF) government, parliamentarian Rohitha Abeygunawardena said.
“The government has put forward several budgets after coming into power since 2015. The promises which were made during those occasions must be fulfilled before proceeding to table a new budget” MP Gunawardena told a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) conference today (Mar 04).
The parliamentarian also claimed that the opposition when combined with the SLPP would outnumber the government formed by the UNF and the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC).
“The government would have only 101 seats while the opposition would have 102” he remarked.
Mr. Abeygunawardena added that the likes of MPs such as Wijayamuni Soyza, M.H.M Fowzi, Manusha Nanayakkara, Piyasena Gamage, and Lakshman Seneviratne were vital in forming the majority.
On the same note, he added that the budget could be defeated if these parliamentarians join the opposition and vote against the government.
