Twenty-eight families temporarily vacated their homes in the Koslanda area in Badulla after an earth slip damaged two houses today (Nov 30).
Haldumulla Divisional Secretary Suneth Jinendrasena told Times Online that the families have sought shelter at a state-run relief centre in the area.
He said residents had moved out of their homes as a precaution from landslides.
According to the Meteorological Department, the Badulla District is likely to receive up to 150mm of rain owing to the North-East monsoon which made landfall this week.
