Four trucks transporting garbage from Colombo to Aruwakkalu sustained damages after been attacked along with 24 other trucks, police said.
It is believed that a group of persons had attacked the vehicles between Puttalam and Manativu areas.
The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) earlier this week requested the Acting Police Chief to provide security for garbage trucks transporting waste to the sanitary landfill in Aruwakkalu, Puttalam.
Municipal Commissioner Palitha Nanayakkara stated that the request had been made after considering the repeated attacks on the trucks since the transportation of waste had begun earlier this month.
