A 32-year old who attempted to take a selfie on top of a rock at the Kirinda beach has been reported missing after he toppled into the sea.
According to the police, the individual was a part of a 40-member group which had reached the Kataragama devalaya after setting off from Matara to perform a religious ritual.
The incident had occured when the group of people had completed their rituals and then visited the Kirinda beach.
Search operations are being carried out by the Navy and the residents of Kirinda to locate the missing body.
