A 48-year old woman has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport while attempting to smuggle narcotics to Dubai last evening, Customs Spokesman (Acting) Vipuli Minuwanpitiya said.
The narcotic which was discovered to have been concealed in parcels had weighed 2.94 kilograms and was valued at Rs 837,000, Ms. Minuwanpitiya said.
Customs officials had made the arrest following a tip-off received regarding the suspect.
The suspect has been identified as a resident of Akurana, Kandy and had attempted to leave the country seeking employment as a housemaid in Dubai.
