Fifty (50) persons have died from road traffic accidents from December 20 to date, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana.
He said another 132 persons have sustained severe injuries and 292 with minor injuries.
DIG Rohana said 1398 persons who have been driving under the influence of liquor have been arrested from December 20 to date.
“During the past 24 hours 82 persons have been arrested for drunk driving. The highest number of road accidents is reported on December 31 night,” the Police Spokesman warned.
