A 61-member army contingent left for South Sudan for UN peacekeeping duties this morning, a spokesman for the army said.
According to the army, a majority of these officers represent the Medical Corps. The others include officers from the Engineering service regiment, Service corps, and Signal Corps.
The contingent would be tasked with maintaining a Level 2 military hospital in South Sudan for a period of one year.
Meanwhile, a 50-member regiment which has already been deployed to Sudan is expected to return to the country upon completing their term.
