Around 7000 civil security force personnel are to be deployed for security during the presidential election on Sunday (Nov 11), a senior police official said.
Special security will be in place at 42 counting centres, Police Elections Secretariat chief DIG Sarath Peiris said. He noted that some 41,000 police officers will be on duty.
DIG Peiris added that the military will be deployed for security at vital places to cover up for police officers who will be on election duty.
