The 72nd Anniversary of the United National Party (UNP) will be celebrated today at the Sirikotha Party Headquarters.
The event will be headed by Party Leader Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The United National Party, one of the main political parties in Sri Lanka, was founded on September 6, 1946 by Sri Lanka’s first Prime Minister D. S. Senanayake.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
