A total of 9500 metric tonnes of rice had been imported to the country as at 12pm today (17), according to Sri Lanka Customs.
Some 3300 metric tonnes of the imported rice is Kekulu rice while 6200 metric tonnes is Nadu rice.
The time period given to import rice will expire at 12 midnight on December 20.
