A total of 975 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday (09) making it a day with the highest number of cases.
During the past few weeks COVID cases dwindled between 700 to 800 per day. Yesterday’s number increased the total number of persons who have been infected with the virus in the country to 67200.
Five COVID deaths were also reported yesterday from Kapuliyedda in Kandy, Moratuwa, Ketawala in Kandy, Kurunegala and Anuradhapura. The deaths were mainly due to COVID pneumonia and COVID virus aggravating underlying health conditions.
