A Member of Parliament for the All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) has issued passes for persons to move around during the travel restriction period, Police said.
The MP Ali Sabri Raheem from the Puttalam district had issued the passes saying he was giving permission for persons to move around.
One such pass had been issued to travel from Puttalam to Vavuniya to collect fertilizer.
However, Police said that there was no provision for the MP to issue such passes.
