The Attorney General Dappula de Livera has directed the Inspector General of Police C.D.Wickremaratne to make the required preparations to take speedy action on those responsible for the Easter Sunday attacks.
The AG has given a 14 day ultimatum for to carryout further investigations and record statements from those implicated in the incidents and report back to him, a spokesperson for the AG’s Department said.
The directives was set out in a 30 page letter to the IGP.
The AG said that the IGP should obtain a copy of the Commission report on the Easter Sunday attacks from the President’s office and ascertain if any further statements should be record from any persons.
The IGP has been told to complete all shortcomings in the investigations.
He said that the objective was speedily take action based on the Commission report.
Meanwhile Co-Cabinet spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella told that a special cabinet meeting will be called to discuss the report.
