Due to adverse weather conditions three aircrafts due to land at the Bandaranaike International Airport were diverted to Mattala last evening, Airport authorities said.
However, the passengers who remained in the aircrafts at Mattala were brought back in the same flights to the BIA later in the night after the heavy rains reduced.
Also, due to the situation, two planes scheduled to depart from Katunayake airport had been delayed.
Accordingly, the SriLankan Airlines flight UL-470, which was scheduled to leave to South Korea at 08.50 PM, left Katunayake Airport at 10.30 p.m.
Also, on Tuesday at 06.45 p.m. a SriLankan Airlines' flight UL-171, which was scheduled to depart for Bangalore, India was delayed and departed late at 10.45 p.m.
A SriLankan Airlines flight UL-126, which was supposed to arrive at Katunayake Airport on 04/26 at 04.35 in the morning from Chennai, India, also had not arrived until this morning.
