The low pressure area formed over the Southwest Bay of Bengal is expected to gather steam and to intensify into a depression within the next 24 hours, said the Department of Meteorology issuing an advisory this evening (October 21).
In this view, the low pressure area is most likely to move North-eastwards in the direction of Bangladesh coast far from the island.
Winds will strike at 40-45 KMPH and may advance into 50-55 KMPH in the sea areas.
The Met. Department further mentioned parts of the country would experience heavy rainfall.
Rough seas are also foreseen during thunderstorms.
Hence, naval and fishing communities were sent word to be attentive in the sea areas in the midst of 10N-20N and between 84E-90E over the next 24 hours and were further requested to be on alert over future forecasts issued by the Met. Dept.
