Archbishop of Colombo Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith today strongly criticised President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his Government over the current state of affairs in the country.
Speaking at a media briefing held at Archbishop's House, which was also attended by several other senior members of the Catholic Church, Cardinal Ranjith said he had questions over who was actually in charge of the country and the direction it was taking.
"Sri Lanka is situated in a geographically important location on the world map. It is extremely painful for us to now point out that the group that took over this country claiming they will safeguard it are now dragging it on a path to destruction," he told the media.
