An Army deserter involved with organised criminals undertaking contract killings has been shot dead in Ganemulla in a shoot out with the STF, police said.
He is believed to have been involved in the recent attempted murder in Ja-ela.
The STF had gone to a location where the suspect was hiding last night.
The STF claimed that the suspect opened fire forcing them to return fire.
The suspect was killed while STF person was also injured.
Police with the STF have launched an operation to crackdown on 20 organised criminal gangs.
