PAt least 10 persons were killed and over 40 injured in a bus accident in Manampitiya, Polonnaruwa, Sunday night, Police said.
The bus had fallen into a branch river of the Mahaweli from the Kothaliya bridge.
A private bus was carrying more than 60 passengers from Polonnaruwa to Kathankudi,
Rescue operations were underway last night.
Part of the bus was submerged in the water.
