Attorney-at-Law Gunaratne Wanninayake accused of obstructing the duties of a police constable at the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court was granted bail, after he presented himself in courts today.
He was released on bail of two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each.
The Court of Appeal earlier in the day took up a writ application filed on behalf of Mr Wanninayake.
The Court was informed that Mr Wanninayake was willing to appear before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court today.
Mr Wanninayake was wanted by the Police to record a statement over an incident which occurred in the Mt Lavinia courts last week where a police constable's duties were reportedly obstructed. The Policeman was accused of assaulting a lawyer.
The Policeman who was remanded last week was released on bail on Monday.
