President Ranil Wickremesinghe has directed the Road Development Authority (RDA) to immediately set up a temporary flyover bridge within ten days to provide access to Bambalapitiya Railway station until it is replaced with a new one.
Accordingly, President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake instructed to remove the dilapidated overhead bridge near the Bambalapitiya Railway station and replace it by constructing a new overhead bridge. For the construction of the new fly-over bridge, Rs 50 million has been allocated as well.
The current flyover bridge at Bambalapitiya which provides access to the railway station had been deteriorating over time and was posing a risk to the railway commuters who use it to reach the Bambalapitiya Railway Station.
The president had also given instructions to complete the construction of the bridge within five months. The construction of the new bridge has been entrusted to the State Development and Construction Corp under the oversight of the Road Development Authority.
