The body of the 16 year-old girl who died of burn injuries while working as a housemaid at Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen’s residence has been exhumed for a post mortem examination in Dayagama.
Following the directives issued by Nuwara-Eliya Magistrate Kumari Dharmakeerthi, a special medical team oversaw the exhumation process with the presence of local authorities.
The body will be taken to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital for the second post-mortem.
Earlier a three-member specialist medical team was appointed by the Director-General of Health Services on the recommendations of the Attorney General to carry out the second autopsy. (pix by K.Kishanthan)
