President Ranil Wickremesinghe had notified the Cabinet of Ministers last evening (October 30) that measures will be taken to raise state sector employees' pay through the 2024 budget.
Additionally, President Wickremesinghe had stated that requests will be made on the private sphere to act correspondingly relative to the rise in the government employee salaries.
Meanwhile, the President also stated that, in light of the steadily rising cost of commodities, it is the aim of the present Government to increase wages of employees in the public sector.
The President is expected to present the third Budget Proposal to Parliament on November 13.
