The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) is to take legal action against those traders who are hoarding large stocks of imported fertilizers in the country despite demand for fertilizer skyrocketed after the government announced a sudden ban on fertilizer imports.
Chairman of CAA, Retired Maj Gen Shantha Dissanayake said his department received many complaints from farmers that some traders are hoarding large stocks of fertilizer stock imported for the current Yala season in order to sell them at a high price in the upcoming season.
He urged the public to contact CAA hotline number 1977 to lodge complaints against such traders so the department can initiate legal action against them.
