The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) today vowed to take strict action on employees of the board failing to report work after declaring the service as an essential service.
CEB Spokesman, Noel Priyantha said that some of the employees have refrained from work in protest against the proposed electricity reforms.
He said that the CEB would initiate action against all employees who fail to report to work.
CEB employees continued a protest campaign outside the CEB Headquarters today for the second day.
On Wednesday the President made all services related to four sectors including electricity as essential services.
The other services relate to any Public Corporation or Government Department or Local Authority or Co-operative Society or any branch thereof being a Department or Corporation or Local Authority or Co-operative Society.
