Another 190 persons have died from COVID-19 increasing the total number of COVID fatalities in the country to 7750, Health Ministry said.
Former Minister Mangala Samaraweera and President’s Counsel D.S. Wijesinghe were among prominent personalities who lost their lives to COVID yesterday.
Meanwhile, the number of COVID positive persons continues to surge with 4427 persons tested positive for the virus yesterday (24). Close to 400,000 persons have contracted the virus since the first wave.
Among those who contracted the virus are Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana and State Minister of Development of Minor Crops-related Industries and Export Promotion Janaka Wakkumbura.
