Forty two (42) persons have died from COVID-19 on Tuesday (21) increasing the death toll from the virus to 3964, the Director General of Health Services confirmed on Wednesday (22).
Among the daily deceased, 35 were above the age of 60 years, while six persons were between the ages of 30-59. One death of a female below the age of 30 has been reported. Majority of those who succumbed to the virus were males (25).
Another 1,714 persons were tested positive for COVID yesterday bringing the total number of COVID infected persons in the country to 282,985.
Meanwhile, isolation status in Bogahakotuwa Grama Niladhari division in Matale district has been lifted from today (23), the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) announced.
