Seven persons died from COVID-19 complications on Sunday increasing the total number of deaths from the virus to 397, Director General of Health Services has confirmed.
However, the death of former Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara at the Infectious Diseases Hospital on Sunday evening has not been listed in the COVID death report released last night.
Meanwhile, 800 persons were tested positive for Coronavirus on Sunday bringing the number of persons who contracted the virus from the second wave to 71,627.
The Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry said 18,349 persons have been vaccinated against the virus to-date. On Sunday, 2,695 persons were given the Oxford-AstraZeneca-Covishield vaccine.
