(UPDATED) -The Managing Director of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and Director CPSTL Susantha Silva has been told to quit, giving way for the appointment of former Navy Commander Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Power and Energy Ministry sources said.
Accordingly, the new appointment is due to take place today.
Mr Silva has not been given any reasons officially for the decision.
The reasoning, reported to be for the change has been that the CPC was planning to improve its security arrangements and they prefer a person handling security arrangements as well.
Mr Silva played a key role in managing CPC during the fuel crisis and was also getting the premium reduced for fuel purchases.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
