Cabinet has approved a proposal for the establishment of two solar power plants in Sampur, Trincomalee in a joint venture with India.
Stage one of the project will be 50 Megawatt capacity plant and stage two a 70 Megawatt plant.
They will be implemented by the Trincomalee Power Company Ltd, established as a partnership by the Ceylon Electricity Board and National Thermal Power Corporation of India as a joint venture between two governments.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Power and Energy to take necessary steps to implement the proposed projects.
