The chances of witnessing a debate between the leaders of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and the National People’s Power (NPP) is fading away.
Both parties have blamed each other for delaying the preparations for the proposed debate.
Former MP Dr Nalinda Jayatissa coordinating on behalf of the NPP said that the SJB MP Nalin Bandara had said arrangements could be made only after the New Year period.
But, MP Bandara has denied the allegations claiming that it was the NPP delaying the proposed debate.
The two sides had not decided whether the debate between SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa and NPP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake would be held over one particular channel or all TV stations would be invited for the event.
However, party sources from the two sides that they were not keen on going ahead of the debate in view of the disadvanges for their sides by conducting the debate well ahead of the elections.
