China handed over special explosive Ordnance Disposal Equipment to the SL Army.
A stock of special explosive Ordnance Disposal Equipment which had been gifted to Ministry of Defense under a Chinese Military Grant scheme, was handed to the Sri Lanka Army, yesterday.
The equipment was accepted by the army during a formal ceremony held at the Army headquarters.
The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, Qi Zhenhong, Secretary to the Ministry of Defense General Kamal Gunaratne and the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage graced the event.
Subsequently the signing of documents related to the grant of equipment took place between Chinese Ambassador and Defense Ministry Secretary.
Accordingly eighteen REOD 4000 Explosive Ordnance Disposal medium robots, ten Anti Explosive Blankets and ten Explosion Protection Tanks as well as Vehicles were symbolically handed over to the Secretary to the Ministry of Defense and was passed on to the the Commander of the Army.
