A consignment of 600,000 doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines donated by China arrived in Sri Lanka today (31).
The flight with the vaccines touched down at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake shortly before noon.
The consignment was ceremonially handed over to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa who had arrived at the airport. Ambassador of China to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong handed over the donation.
So far approval has been given only to use the vaccines on Chinese nationals working in Sri Lanka. The process will commence next week.
