A woman has been arrested for the robbery of two laptops in the Sri Lanka Tourism Human Resource and Control Division, the Kollupitiya Police said today (May 4).
The Kollupitiya Police had received a complaint from the Management Assistant of the institution in regard to the robbery of two laptops worth Rs. 500,000 each on Tuesday.
The Police had then inspected the CCTV footage, where they had seen a woman from the private cleaning staff putting two laptops into a garbage bag while cleaning.
The Police had then raided the institution and arrested a 58 year old Borella resident on the same day.
She had been taken to the Police where she confessed to committing the crime to sell the laptops and pay off loans. The Police were able to recover the laptops from the house of her daughter.
The suspect was produced to the Fort Magistrate yesterday, where she was remanded until May 11.
