A total of 198 vehicles and 303 persons attempting to enter Western province without a valid travel permit have been turned away during the past 24 hours, police said.
According to Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa, 1388 vehicles and 2052 persons entering and leaving Western province have been checked at police roadblocks set up at the provincial border during the past 24 hours.
Police have also arrested 646 persons and taken 18 vehicles into police custody during the past 24 hours for violating quarantine and health regulations as well as violating lockdown rules.
