Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced that a committee chaired by Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has been appointed to look into the events that took place in Parliament on April 21.
Ministers Chamal Rajapaksa, Keheliya Rambukwella, State Minister Susil Premajayantha, Parliamentarians Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, Imthiaz Bakeer Markar, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, and M. A. Sumanthiran have been appointed as members of the Committee.
Regretting the incidents that occurred on Wednesday in Parliament, Speaker Abeywardena stressed that action will be taken against those who were responsible for the incidents based on the committee report.
The leader of the House Minister Dinesh Gunawardena told the House that one of the government MP representing Badulla district was assaulted at the entrance to Parliament.
