The report of the Committee appointed to probe the altercation that took place between State Minister Diana Gamage and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MPs Rohana Bandara and Sujith Sanjaya Perera in Parliament's Lobby on October 20 was handed over to Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena today (14).
The report was handed over by Committee Chairman Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapakse.
The other members of the Committee appointed by the Speaker to investigate the incident were former Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, Gayantha Karunathilaka, Imthiaz Bakeer Markar, Thalatha Athukorala and Dr. Seetha Arambepola.
Speaker Abeywardena had appointed the Committee to carry out a speedy investigation and submit a report following complaints made to him by both parties to the incident.
The Committee met on four occasions and aside from the three MPs who were directly involved in the incident, it also heard evidence from others including State Minister Piyal Nishantha, who was identified by as a key witness to what unfolded.
